January 22 Loose Leaf Collection Update

The town crew has finished all of the Avenues and most of the cross streets. Today they are on Jackson Street moving uphill toward Wilkins. After they finish Wilkins they will move to Ayersville and Turner Roads and the neighborhood streets located off of them. This will complete the 3rd, and final, pass through town.

ALL LEAVES MUST BE BAGGED for pick-up after January 31st.

 

NOTICE: Inclement Weather Closing

Mayodan administrative offices are closed Thursday, January 18, due to inclement weather conditions. Citizens should call 9-1-1 for police services or call the non-emergency police line, (336) 548-6038, to reach public works.

At this time Main Street between 2nd Ave. and 3rd Ave. is closed due to the icy conditions. The road will be re-opened when conditions permit. Crews will continue to plow and salt streets, but due to below freezing temperatures anything that melts today will re-freeze tonight. Please take caution.

 

January 16 Loose Leaf Collection Update

The town crew will begin their 3rd, and final, pass through town beginning on 13th Ave. The crew will move through all of the Avenues from 13th to 1st Avenue; then from Roosevelt to Wilkins Street; then finishing on Ayersville and Turner Roads and the streets off of them. This is the last pass, after this leaves must be bagged to be picked-up by town crews.

 

January 2 Loose Leaf Collection Update

Town crews are on Roach Street moving up toward Wilkins Street. Once they finish Wilkins Street they will then move to Ayersville and Turner Roads and the side streets off of them. This will complete their second pass through town.

 

RFP for Washington Mills Clean-Up phase 1

The Town of Mayodan is seeking companies or individuals that are interested in submitting a bid for two related projects at the Washington Mills demolition site.

Grinding and removal of wood products

Loading of building debris for removal, with option to haul materials

Companies may chose to bid on one or both of the RFPs, each will be considered separately. However, it should be clear in pricing whether there is a discount for the award of both contracts to the same company.

Vendors are required to have visited the site. Arrangements for site visit may be made through the Town Manager’s office.

Bids must be in our office (Town Hall, 210 West Main Street, Mayodan NC 27027) by 2:00 pm Friday December 29, 2017. The intent is to award the contract in mid-January. All questions should be directed to Michael Brandt, Town Manager, (336) 427-0241.

December 18 Loose Leaf Collection Update

Town crews are on 3rd Avenue moving down toward 1st Ave. Once they finish the Avenues later this week, they will move to Roosevelt Street and move up the streets toward Wilkins Street. They will then move to Ayersville and Turner Roads and the side streets off of them.

Weather delays are possible this week.

Mayodan Loose Leaf Collection Update

The Second Pass for Loose leaf collection will begin Monday, December 4th 

The Route will begin on 13th Avenue and move down through the Avenues to 1st Avenue (West to East). The route then continues on Roosevelt Street up to Wilkins Street (South to North). the route finishes on Ayersville and Turner roads, and the side streets. This is the second of three passes through town.

Please DO NOT place branches, sticks, grass or other trash in your leaf piles – we use a vacuum system and can not pick up leaves with brush or other materials. Grass clippings must be bagged all year round.

Also, we can not pick up leaves under or near vehicles parked on the street. Leaves should be raked to the back of the curb and not put in the street. Leaves in the street can lead to street flooding during heavy rain events.

Look for the signs below to let you know when we are close to your property. Updates will also be posted on social media.

Town Offices Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

Town offices are closed November 23rd and 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Commercial garbage pick-up will be on its regular service day of Friday. If you have an emergency and need to reach the Police Department or Public Utilities please call 9-1-1.

The Season of Hayodan is Coming!

The Town of Mayodan is partnering with the Mayodan Arts Center and the Downtown Mayodan Merchants Association for the 4th Annual “Hayodan” Public Art Event.

This year Hayodan will begin October 1st and run till the end of the month. New this year, the Mayodan Arts Center (MAC) is in charge of registration and creation of brochures.
