Rockingham County Quilt Trail

Earlier this year, on January 15th, the first square of the Rockingham County Quilt Trail was unveiled at the Cardwell Family’s Daylily Farm in the Ayersville Community. Now, more than 40 quilt designs are around the county, including three in Mayodan – Country Side Produce and Grille, West Rock Farmers’ Market, and at Tilley’s Thrift Shop in downtown.

The Rockingham County Quilt Trail is a celebration of local agriculture, the artists in the community and Rockingham’s rich cultural heritage. The Trail encourages local residents and visiting tourists to travel around Rockingham County’s beautiful rural landscape and shop the various agribusinesses and local products. Participants will be featured in all promotional materials, including a Quilt Trail map, brochure and website. The Quilt Trail is scheduled to be completed by June 2016. A brochure and website page will be designed to market the trail.

The fifth annual Mayo River State Park Family Fishing Day will be held Saturday, May 28th. The focus of the event will be a kids fishing derby for ages 17 and under. This will be a special license exempt day. All members of the family may participate without having a fishing license. In addition to prizes for catching fish, door prizes will be given throughout the day to kids registered for the event. Additional activities include bluegrass music, a crafts booth for children, casting games with prizes, and some displays including Rockingham County history, local recreation, and emergency medical services.
