The Season of Hayodan has Begun!

countrysideThe bales have been delivered and area artists are transforming hay into art with great imagination and style! Already there are Scar-HAY cats, a GumBALE machine, Mick-HAY Mouse, a Monster Truck, and even a 15 foot tall Tedd-HAY Bear! There are over 50 participants this year – to help you find them all download the map here or pick-up one (Beginning October 8th) at Squealing Pig BBQ – 105 E. Main Street; Cedar Mountain Country Store – 105 S. 2nd Ave.; Mayodan Town Hall – 210 West Main Street; or Countryside Produce & Grille – 401 N. Ayersville Road.

Make sure you stop-by and let the businesses know you like their artwork and appreciate their community spirit. Share your pictures on social media with the hashtags #Hayodan or #MayodanNC.

Greetings from Hayodan!

Its hay-ppening again this year, the Downtown Mayodan Merchant Association and the Town of Mayodan are sponsoring the 3rd Annual Mayodan Hay Bale Sculpture Festival – October 1st through November 19th. This year we are expanding to include a 2-day What The Hay! Street Festival October 7th & 8th and a “Running of the Bales” 5K run in early November.

The Advisory Committee invites you to use your creative design skills to transform hay bales into art of your choosing. This is a fun, creative way open to businesses, associations, non-profits, and anyone who wants to show off their creativity to the community and visitors. There are no design rules except all sculptures and names must be appropriate for all-ages. Humor, especially tongue-in-cheek, is appreciated and encouraged. Find the application here.

To see some of last year’s entries follow this link… or go to our FaceBook Page and look for the 2015 or 2014 photo albums.
