Farris Memorial Park Concessions Opens for the Season

Beginning February 18th the Concession Stand at Farris Memorial Park will be open on weekends (weather permitting). Saturday hours will be 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. and Sundays will be from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. You will be able to rent bikes, play miniature golf, purchase park fishing permits (not State Licenses), and purchase balls for the driving range.

This past winter staff upgraded the concession stand and bathrooms so that the building has been “winterized” allowing for the restrooms to stay open all winter. Restrooms are now open from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm every day.

So now there is no excuse to get outside and take a walk, jog, or ride during the winter.

Greetings from Hayodan!

Its hay-ppening again this year, the Downtown Mayodan Merchant Association and the Town of Mayodan are sponsoring the 3rd Annual Mayodan Hay Bale Sculpture Festival – October 1st through November 19th. This year we are expanding to include a 2-day What The Hay! Street Festival October 7th & 8th and a “Running of the Bales” 5K run in early November.

The Advisory Committee invites you to use your creative design skills to transform hay bales into art of your choosing. This is a fun, creative way open to businesses, associations, non-profits, and anyone who wants to show off their creativity to the community and visitors. There are no design rules except all sculptures and names must be appropriate for all-ages. Humor, especially tongue-in-cheek, is appreciated and encouraged. Find the application here.

To see some of last year’s entries follow this link… or go to our FaceBook Page and look for the 2015 or 2014 photo albums.
