Parks & Streets

The Parks and Streets Department is a team of dedicated individuals consisting of a Park Superintendent, Crew Leader, and two groundskeepers.

The team is responsible for the maintenance and stewardship of the Town of Mayodan's parks - Farris Memorial Park and Elliott Duncan Park. The team works to keep the parks clean, safe, and ready for your enjoyment. They also plan the programs at the parks such as the annual arts & crafts market, Cars and Coffee, and others. Additionally, they will assist you with renting the shelters at Farris Memorial Park or the Gazebo at Elliott Duncan Park. 

The Parks & Streets Department is also responsible for the following:

• Cleaning debris from right of ways before mowing
• Mowing Town owned properties
• Mowing and trimming at municipal cemetery and removal of debris and trash
• Applying herbicide to problem areas as needed
• Keeping storm drains clear of debris before and after rain
• Loose leaf collection from November 1st to February 1st in the town limits
• Removal of snow, ice on sidewalks and entries to public owned buildings and properties
• Assisting the Street Department with snow removal, flagging assistance, and general maintenance and upkeep of public owned parking lots and properties
