TOWN GOVERNMENT
The Town of Mayodan is governed by a Council-Manager form of government. The Town Council consists of the Mayor and five Council Members. The Mayor serves a two year term and Town Council members serve staggered terms of four years. The Mayor is the presiding officer over council but does not vote. The Mayor will vote in the case of a tie. In the absence or disability of the Mayor, the Mayor Pro Tem, an elected member of the Council selected from its members, performs the Mayoral duties. The Council sets the policies of the Town of Mayodan. The Town Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the Town. The Manager is responsible for the implementation of the policies approved by Council. Elections are held every two (2) years on the second Tuesday of November.
The Mayodan Town Council meets the 2nd Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the former Mayodan library located at 101 N 10th Avenue.
If you would like to present an issue to the Town Council at an upcoming meeting, please contact Sarah Hopper, Town Clerk, at 336-427-0241 at least one week prior to the meeting.
