Whether you want to get your pulse racing paddling down class II and III rapids on the Mayo or enjoy a lazy tube ride on the Dan, both rivers are accessible and offer miles of fun and relaxation.

Mayo State Park, once a private recreational park owned by Washington Mills, has been a local hang-out for over fifty years.  It now provides visitors an opportunity to enjoy quiet trails and a refurbished fishing pond.

Nearby you can discover local history at the Museum and Archives of Rockingham County.  This new museum located in the old Rockingham County Courthouse in Wentworth (just 15 minutes east) provides a glimpse into Rockingham County’s past, including the history of Mayodan and surrounding areas.
