Town Manager – Mayodan, pop. 2,412, located in Rockingham County, NC, along the I-73 corridor between Greensboro, NC and Martinsville, Va. Situated along the convergence of the Mayo River and the Dan River, Mayodan is rich in outdoor activities and amenities. Mayodan is home to the North American headquarters of Bridgestone Aircraft Tires, Sturm Ruger & Company manufacturing, several textile manufacturers, and a hometown downtown that hosts street festivals and activities. The Town owns a 259-acre park with mountain bike and walking trails, driving range, ballfields, shelters, and fishing ponds. Mayodan is home to NC’s Mayo River State Park. PTI Airport and City of Greensboro are approximately 20 minutes south on I/73. The area is experiencing growth north from the airport and the Town’s water and sewer assets play a strong part in that growth. A Council-Manager form of government, Mayodan seeks a qualified applicant reporting to the mayor and 5 council members. Responsible for supervising and management of 34 full-time employees and a $5.9M budget. Departments include water, sewer, streets, sanitation, parks & recreation, planning & zoning, finance, police, volunteer fire, and cemetery. Qualifications include minimum of BA/BS degree. Prefer MPA with experience in local government. A knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding town government, and a background in planning & zoning are greatly desired. Candidates should possess abilities in the areas of budgeting, planning & zoning, economic development, grant writing, public works, consensus building, community involvement and internal/external team building.
