Planning and Zoning Services
Mayodan Planning and Zoning provides planning and zoning services within the corporate limits and extra territorial jurisdiction of the Town of Mayodan. Staff reviews development proposals, policies, codes, and ordinances to ensure consistency with town policy and land development code requirements. Such development proposals include requests for voluntary annexation, zoning map amendments, street closings, special use permits, variances, subdivision plans, watershed development plans, and site plans. Planning and Zoning manages the Town's Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance. The Department ensures that changes to the community's physical environment comply with applicable land development policy.
The Town of Mayodan contracts with Rockingham County for building permits, inspections, and code enforcement. To obtain a building permit, you need to acquire a zoning permit from the Town of Mayodan first.
