Boards & Commissions
Boards and Commissions
The Town of Mayodan is fortunate to have dedicated residents who volunteer their time to serve on boards and committees. These groups provide guidance, expertise, and community input that help the Town Council and staff make informed decisions.
Planning Board / Board of Adjustment
The Planning Board advises the Town Council on matters related to land use, zoning, and future development. The Board reviews rezoning requests, text amendments, and subdivision plats to ensure growth is consistent with Mayodan’s Land Development Plan.
When acting as the
Board of Adjustment, members hear appeals, consider variances, and special hardship cases. This quasi-judicial role is vital to ensuring fairness and consistency in applying the Town’s zoning ordinance.
Farris Memorial Park Committee
The Farris Memorial Park Committee provides guidance on the use, maintenance, and improvements of Mayodan’s largest recreational asset. The committee works with staff to review needs such as facility upgrades, park programming, and long-term planning. Their role helps ensure Farris Memorial Park remains a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming space for families, visitors, and community events.
Cemetery Committee
The Cemetery Committee provides guidance on the management, care, and upkeep of Mayodan’s cemetery. Members advise staff and Council on issues such as maintenance standards, policies, beautification, and long-term planning. The committee plays an important role in ensuring that the cemetery remains a dignified and respectful place of remembrance for the community.
